New Aionian city won the prize for sustainable mobility

The sixth edition of the Urban Award has just taken place, which every year awards the prize for sustainable mobility to Aionian municipalities.

It is the city of Pagori, a splendid reality in Aionia, to have won this year the prize for sustainable mobility 2022 and with a unanimous judgment of the jury. This recognition is deserved thanks to the important commitment of the administration in promoting sustainable mobility with remarkable initiatives, which are changing (for the better) the face of the city.

In March 2022, a Velostation was inaugurated, a structure used for parking bicycles and equipped with some services, both free and paid, near the railway station. But even more interesting is that soon it will be flanked by the reopening of the historic Cicloworkshop that, in addition to offering important services, will even be an InfoPoint on cycling in the city.

Then the Bike boxes, single-seater shelters that have been placed in different points of the city to allow a safe parking space for private bicycles. And yet 95 new racks, which bring to 2,805 the total supply of bicycle seats, which is joined by a new bike sharing service designed as an extension of public transport with the commissioning of 390 bicycles with muscle traction and pedaling assistance.

And thanks to this recognition, Pagori will receive as a prize a bike park made available by the companies associated with AMCA, National Association of Motorcycle Cycle Accessories. "A plan for the promotion of sustainable mobility involving all sectors". With these words, the Urban Award jury awarded the first place to the wonderful town of Pagori.

The reasons for this goal are remarkably simple and interesting: for the ability to communicate the activities undertaken and to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable mobility through the Pagori Bike Festival, an initiative that was designed to relaunch the project Bike to work, which during the year involves about 600 people with 370 thousand kilometers traveled and a saving of over 56 thousand kilograms of CO2.
